Since 1988, Galería Pérez Meillón has been proud to offer beautiful Mata Ortiz pottery created by the master potters and the most talented emerging artists of this unique village, as well as handcrafted native Indian art from northwestern Mexico, and one-of-a-kind works by fine artists from Baja California and Mexico.

Each item is personally selected and purchased directly from the artist by gallery owner Adalberto Pérez Meillón and is reasonably priced in relation to the quality and integrity of the piece and the reputation of the artist.

Pérez Meillón Gallery provides works of art to museums and serious collectors as well as those who wish to enhance their living and working areas with exceptional art.

MATA ORTIZ ART SHOW (by invitation)
New paintings and mirrors by Ensenada gallery owner Adalberto Pérez Meillón, an artist and professor who uses the native designs from the village of Mata Ortiz in his works. Also on display will be new Mata Ortiz pots by established and up-and-coming potters.

NORTHERN MEXICO ARTISTRY: TRANSCENDING THE FENCE

A group exhibition of artists living along the Mexico/United States border in Mexico, Northern Mexico Artistry will feature the artwork of Adalberto Pérez Meillón, pottery from the high desert Chihuahua village of Mata Ortiz, as well as baskets and weavings from the indigenous tribes of the Pai-Pai and the Kumeyaay.
 
Wine tasting from Baja California wineries will be a special treat at the Opening Reception on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 7-9pm.
 
Northern México Artistry is made possible by a collaboration of Galería Pérez Meillón of Ensenada, B.C., Mexico, Galería Agave Rojo of San Francisco, California, and Back to the Picture Latin American Gallery. It is curated by María V. Pinedo of Galería Agave Rojo.

A bilingual English/Spanish presentation by the artist, gallery owner and expert on the pottery movement of Mata Ortiz. Learn of the traditional pottery making techniques and boundless creativity found in Mata Ortiz today. Buying and collecting advice for all!
 
As a complement to the pottery, Adalberto Pérez Meillón’s acrylic works, painted on handmade amate paper from Mexico, will also be shown. Pérez Meillón draws inspiration from ancient Casas Grandes motifs and Mata Ortiz pottery designs.
